The Good Doctor and American Political Realism

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/12/09/AR2010120904472.html

Here is The Good Doctor (TGD) doing his Peronist caudillo turn, for our intellectual edification! The aimless political world needs the interpretive brio of our little authoritarian, to explain the political prestidigitation, of the master politician Barack Obama, who wins even as he loses? TGD shouts because that is his way; a lamentable but necessary strategy, to deal with the ignorant and the politically tone deaf. All the active participants of The American Political Melodrama at the least have walk-on parts, his narrative prominently features clueless Democrats of all stripes, but the left is his primary target, it’s handy and even the President favors a healthy disrespect for its professional wing. Neo-Conservative political chatter is both readable and quotable, sharing that quality with the unforgettable literary prose of the late, lamented Jacquiline Susann.

About stephenkmacksd

Rootless cosmopolitan, down at heels intellectual;would be writer. 'Polemic is a discourse of conflict, whose effect depends on a delicate balance between the requirements of truth and the enticements of anger, the duty to argue and the zest to inflame. Its rhetoric allows, even enforces, a certain figurative licence. Like epitaphs in Johnson’s adage, it is not under oath.' https://www.lrb.co.uk/v15/n20/perry-anderson/diary
