Almost Marx on Cockeyed Platonist Constructs an Ars Poetica

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/12/opinion/12brooks.html?src=ISMR_HP_LO_MST_FB

Here is Cockeyed Platonist (CP) at the point of literary desperation, as his deadline draws near. Here are a mass of disparate quotations pressed into a nearly readable, yet thin, essay on 'The Poetry of Everyday Life'.He goes all over the intellectual map to cobble together this bricolage. And the list of quotations and their sources is indeed impressive.Yet this particular attempt to sound a note of philosophical seriousness ends in a kind of  inept pastiche, even unintentional comedy. Please see my superb book 'Queer: As a Way of Being' for tips on coping with my self-aggrandizing conception of queer person-hood, as somehow an indication of my exceptionalism, as a bearer of a sacred tradition of the sexually marginal : with a side note on my present political inequality, to add a certain frisson.

Almost Marx on Intellectual Catamites for American Capital

Intellectual Catamites for American Capital (ICAC) is an organization formed in 1975, just before The Reagan Revolution happened. It is  an organization based on the economic thought of great economists of the past Hayek,Friedman, and the Chicago School. But the real philosophical impetuous for its formation was the thought and writing of Ayn Rand, the Philosopher from Studio City. ICAC is a loose federation of thinkers, writers, political advocates and just plain hacks, who find it politically convenient, even advantageous, to mouth the same old political cliches about 'The Free Market'. 'The Free Market' is synonymous with theft: and for its advocates it can be very lucrative. The very exciting news about this organization is that its annual gathering will be held in Washington D.C. in June 2011, and for this occasion, Anorexic Blond No-Nothing will perform a selection of songs from John Philip Sousa.

Almost Marx on American Capitalism

Capitalism is not about job creation or civic responsibility or any of the other quaint political notions, enumerated in our founding documents. It is about profit and profit only, and it is politically naive to think that, somehow, the practitioners of American Capitalism, that unapologetically brought the derivative into our economic life, will somehow manage to reform themselves, in an act of political contrition. In the present historical moment we need a Franklin Roosevelt, a Ferdinand Pecora but instead we have a timid New Democrat, channeling the spirit of candidate Albert Gore, and a deranged Republican Party infiltrated with Jacobite Tea Partiers. The idea and practice of civic republican virtue has been too long dormant as an operative political philosophy in our national life.
