Max Boot and The Defense of The American Empire

http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/boot/385761#We have graduated from ‘The Clash of Civilizations’ as argued by Mr. Huntington in his bloated article in Foreign Affairs- we can argue that that was just a transitional phase of American Imperial rationalization, that now clarifies itself  with the introduction of a New Cold War with China, as argued, here, by Mr. Boot. It is a heady moment, a moment for Mr. Boot’s masters to profit not only from the War on Terror, with is ever shifting fronts of battle, but, now, the permanent enemy can and will be established, in the public mind, as implacable and with a location in time and space, that can be exploited as the’ New Yellow Peril’, nearly sanitized of its racial component, and expressed as the New Giant of Economic and Military might devouring, swallowing everything in its path. A macrophage made to order to inspire fear and its concomitant political hysteria. Mr. Boot’s imperative is don’t cut defense spending, cut entitlements, the endless theme of a bankrupt Conservatism in the thrall of plutocrats and kleptocrats. Who wish to bury the last remnants of the New Deal and march off to endless war, while celebrating the utter destruction of the middle class.

About stephenkmacksd

Rootless cosmopolitan, down at heels intellectual;would be writer. 'Polemic is a discourse of conflict, whose effect depends on a delicate balance between the requirements of truth and the enticements of anger, the duty to argue and the zest to inflame. Its rhetoric allows, even enforces, a certain figurative licence. Like epitaphs in Johnson’s adage, it is not under oath.' https://www.lrb.co.uk/v15/n20/perry-anderson/diary
